Obstructive sleep apnea and dyslipidemia: from animal models to clinical evidence

Human studies and intermittent hypoxia models in animals indicate that OSA activates multiple pathways that can lead to cardiovascular disease. The effect of OSA on serum lipids remains poorly characterized. There is evidence of improvement after initiating treatment with CPAP.
