Increasing symptom severity of ADHD is significantly associated with clinically significant insomnia symptoms, long and short sleep duration, after correction for a range of potential confounders. Both long and short sleep duration were also significantly associated with inattentive symptoms, in fully adjusted models, whereas hyperactive symptoms were associated with short sleep duration only. Comorbid insomnia and sleep duration should be considered by clinicians to reduce suffering and improve functioning.
