Sleep in chronic respiratory disease: COPD and hypoventilation disorders

The diagnosis of OSA in COPD patients requires clinical awareness and screening. Sleep-related hypoventilation is common in NMD and skeletal disorders because of the normal sleep effects on ventilation. Monitoring of respiration and CO2 levels during sleep should be incorporated.
