Dr. Anirban Maitra

Dr. Anirban Maitra is currently employed as a Consultant in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine (Paediatric Pulmonologist) at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust), the largest single site tertiary children’s hospital in the United Kingdom. He is the director of Cystic Fibrosis unit (currently the largest in the country) and is the lead for bronchiectasis and primary ciliary dyskinesia. Graduated from Calcutta Medical College, India, Asia’s oldest medical school practicing European Medicine, he has been in the UK since 1997. He has been involved in the tertiary management of children with complicated respiratory problems for the past decade and beyond. He worked as a Research Fellow at the Bristol Children’s Hospital and had published widely in highly rated academic journals (BMJ, Thorax, Clinical and Experimental Allergy). He completed the much-coveted National Grid Training in Paediatric Respiratory medicine from the Sheffield Children’s hospital in 2009 and has been practicing as a Consultant since. He has worked as a Consultant in University Children’s Hospital at Leicester, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital (Liverpool), and had spent working in tertiary institutions overseas before joining Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital in 2015.
